Santa Rosa Lake State Park

Santa Rosa Lake State Park is located on a large reservoir in eastern New Mexico near the town of Santa Rosa. This section of the state is famous worldwide for its deep natural sinkholes and is a popular tourist destination for scuba divers, as well as people interested in hiking and recreational fishing. The park sits on 4,300 acres including the lake and adjacent land.
Camping
Santa Rosa Lake State Park offers camping from April through December. The park is home to three campgrounds with spaces for tents and RVs, and includes connections for electricity, water and sewer. Restrooms, showers and access to potable water are found within a short distance of each camping area. If you wish to visit the park but lodge nearby, then over 20 hotels are established locally. Santa Rosa Lake State Park charges a fee per site with no individual, family or group rates. Annual camping passes are available if you visit this location often.
Activities
Santa Rosa Lake State Park offers a diverse number of activities. Recreational fishing, sailing, boating and water skiing are among the things to do on the water, while wildlife viewing and hiking activities are available on land. Playgrounds are located on the premises to occupy young children throughout the day, and a variety of outdoor events are accessible to parents and children, which offer practical educational opportunities about local plant and animal life.
Precautions
This park sits on a water source in the desert, so an abundance of animal life is always present: lizards, snakes and tarantulas are just a few of the creatures that are found in this area. Also, the Santa Rosa area receives only 14 inches of precipitation a year, and due to these dry conditions a prohibition on fires is sometimes enacted.
The southwestern area of the United States is a beautiful place to visit, and Santa Rosa State Park combines an incredible landscape with plenty of aquatic activities.
