History
Oliver Lee Memorial State Park was established in 1980, named after the rancher Oliver Lee, who built railroads and financial connections with other cities across the United States. He was one of the first setters of the area and helped transform the desert into productive farmland. The park was also used by the Apache as a stronghold during multiple conflicts with newly arrived Europeans and later with American settlers. The ranch house owned by Oliver Lee is preserved in historically accurate detail and is made available for visitors participating in guided tours.
