Coyote Creek State Park

Coyote Creek State Park is located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in New Mexico, and is a great place to visit for anyone who enjoys hiking, fishing and camping. Recently re-opened this summer, the 83-acre park is suitable for families because it has many facilities and amenities.

A valley between the mountains

Coyote Creek State Park is actually located in a valley in between the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and is surrounded by a forest that offers a terrific setting for viewing fall foliage. In the summer it serves as a comfortable refuge from the area's hot temperatures, however, park use is often limited in the winters because of the heavy snows.

Camping in Coyote Creek State Park

Camping and picnicking are the two main attractions of the park. The gate of the park is open 24 hours a day and there are private campsites throughout the park and along the creek. The park has restrooms and showers, campsites with electrical hookups are also available for a nominal additional fee and park pass admission is available for purchase on a daily or annual basis.

Fishing and wildlife

The creek in the park is stocked regularly with rainbow trout and other native trout, and the entire area is also home to deer and bear. To increase the likelihood that visitors are able to catch fish, some ponds are constructed behind beaver dams.

Coyote Creek State Park is an ideal location for family camping and picnics. It offers beautiful vistas of nature along with the amenities necessary for anyone to have a pleasant experience.
